Industrial ( Baking and Handicrafts)

Below are the classes for this year’s Show in the Industrial Section.

There are 5 categories :

Preserving

Handicrafts

SECTION V - INDUSTRIAL 
(a) Home Baking
1          Focaccia Bread ( a bread mix can be used)
2          Carrot Cake  (recipe given must be used)

Carrot Cake
8ozs SR Flour
3 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Ground Mixed Spice
6 Fluid ozs Sunflower Oil
6 ozs Light Muscovado Sugar
3 large Eggs
12 ozs Carrots (grated)
Mix flour and baking powder then mix in spice. 
Add oil, sugar and eggs. 
Beat well until mixture is smooth, then fold in carrots. 
Spoon  mixture into a  2lb Loaf Tin and level top.
Bake for 40 - 50 minutes, or until firm to touch.

4          3 Mince Pies (Shortcrust pastry)
5          3 Flapjacks
6          Dusted Victoria Sponge with Jam and Buttercream Filling
7          3 Chocolate Chip Cookies
8          3 Fruit Scones
9          Individual Quiche 100mm (4")
10       5 bite size pieces of fudge

(b) Preserves (home-made)

12        Jar Lemon Curd
13        Jar Plum Jam
14        Jar Blackcurrant jam
15        Jar Rhubarb and Ginger Jam 
16        Jar Strawberry jam
17        Jar Raspberry jam
18        Jar Jelly
19        Jar Chutney
 
All preserves should be exhibited in clear glass containers  340gms min not coloured and covered with a traditional wax disc and cellophane cover.
 
In the following sections, competitors must not compete with articles previously awarded a prize at a Currie Parish Horticultural and Industrial Society Show and each article entered must be the actual handiwork of the competitor.

32       Item from recycled material
33        Wooden Bird Box
34        Photograph – “Tree(s)” (5x7 photograph not to be mounted or framed)
