Industrial ( Baking and Handicrafts)

Below are the classes for this year’s Show in the Industrial Section.

4 inchECTION V - INDUSTRIAL 
(a) Home Baking
1          Handmade Cottage Loaf
2          Brack  (recipe given must be used)

BRACK

225g(8oz) Sultanas
110g (4oz) Raisins
110g (4oz)Currants
175g (6oz) Demerara Sugar
150mls (1/4 pint) tea, hot
1 Egg
225g (8oz) Self Raising Flour

1 Mix together dried fruit, sugar and hot tea
2 Cover and leave overnight
3 Preheat oven to fan 150`C, conventional 170`, gas 3
4 Grease and line the base of a 1kg (2lb) loaf tin
5 Add the egg to the fruit mixture, beat well and then stir in the flour
6 Place the mixture into the tin and bake for 11/2 - 13/4 hrs or until firm.
Always use hot tea so sugar dissolves and the dried fruit swells more easily

6          Dusted Victoria Sponge with Jam and Buttercream Filling
7          3 Pizza Whirls using pizza dough mix.
8          3 Herb Scones
9          4 inch individual Quiche
10        7 inch decorated celebration cake - judged only on decoration

(b) Preserves (home-made)

17        Jar Raspberry jam

All preserves should be exhibited in clear glass containers  340gms min not coloured and covered with a traditional wax disc and cellophane cover.
 
In the following sections, competitors must not compete with articles previously awarded a prize at a Currie Parish Horticultural and Industrial Society Show and each article entered must be the actual handiwork of the competitor.
