TIPS FOR SHOWING FLOWERS
Judges are looking for uniformity and condition

Pick flowers in the morning.

Examine centre of flower to determine age of the bloom.

View flower from below to check condition.

Good colour and straight stems of equal length are desirable.

Gladioli: Straight spikes with one third of each in flower, one third in bud showing colour and one third unopened buds are best.

Sweet Peas: Long straight stems with 4 blooms spaced evenly are desirable.

Roses: Should be three quarter developed. Examine centre for doubles, which are not desirable.

Read your Schedule carefully making sure entries have the correct number per dish or vase. Pot sizes for plants should be correct.
